The Three Card Game
Baccarat is a card game that has only three possible outcomes. Either the player wins, or the banker wins. A round of bets is passed around the table and each player has the option of either betting for a ‘player’, a ‘banker’ or a tie.
Baccarat is a fairly easy and straightforward card game to learn. The goal of the game is to get as close to 9 as possible. The game is played at a horseshoe shaped table. There are three betting positions: Table, Betting Area, and Stand. The player positions themselves are slightly different, but each has their own bets in the three areas.
Going ‘banker’ is the wisest choice. This position is chosen by placing a bet on the ‘player’, a bet on the ‘banker’ or a tie. Maybe the only thing easier than going banker is choosing a tie. Even if the banker does not win, the tied bet still wins.
Going ‘player’ is the simplest of the three choices. You bet on the player or the banker. This is a oneroll bet, so the payoff is even money.
For a table bet, you pick a point number. The last number that comes up is the payoff. Just bet on the point number, and you win even money no matter how many numbers you get.
A balanced hand is a hand that has a high probability of going to the 0 and the high any cards. For example, a hand that contains and Ace, Queen, 8 and 4 would be a high probability of going to the 0. Watch the cards as they fall. The banker’s hand is advantageous when the cards are in a sequence, with aces on the upcard.
For instance, if the banker has a 6 showing, the cards are not in a specific order, but there is a guarding Ace that the banker will not relinquish. Players will not know when the banker will hold this Ace, but players must remember that the banker will always keep on holding one card that no one else wants, known as a King, until the hand is finished.
If the cards are showing Aces, the player can get a third card in this sequence. When the 3 rame (cards on the table) are dealt, the banker will have to draw a third card. The third card is not drawn in the same order as the other two cards.
In a game of Baccarat, the cards are dealt in 3 rounds. Round 1 is called ‘Hand Isle’, where the dealer deals out all the cards. Then, in round 2, the dealer deals out another round of cards. At the end of round 2, the player with the best hand wins.
More than just a hand, there are 3 betting options: Tropez, En Prison and La Partage. They each have different ways of winning and they influence the overall winnings of the player.
Tropez is perhaps the simplest of the baccarat games. Players bet on the banker’s hand, and the player is dealt 3 cards. They are then turned face down and placed at the center of the table so that the player may bet on them. The player is then given the option of betting on the banker’s hand or not. It should be noted that the third card is dealt face up. Players bet on the hand that the banker will end with a tie with. If the banker’s hand is equal to or lower than the player’s hand, then the player does not win anything, but loses his or her original bet on the spin.
En Prison and La Partage
These are both Chadhook Casino’s exclusive bets. The player must either bet on the banker’s hand (and so the player ends up winning nothing), or the player’s hand (and the banker wins everything). La Partage is slightly similar to Betting Area, in that the cards are dealt face up. Then, the player is given the option of betting that the next card will either be better or worse than the card being held by the banker.
As with Chadhook, the third card is dealt face up. With En Prison and La Partage, the cards that the player is holding are taken, but the player will have to keep his hand if the next card is an ace.
The ace is neither good nor bad. It has no affect on the game. The banker’s hand is not strong or weak, and so neither should the player’s hand be. If the player’s hand is five or lower, then he or she loses. If the player has a sixth card, then the round is over and a new hand is begun.
